Julie Verhagen

Julie Verhagen is a Personal Lines Insurance Agent at Mays Insurance Agency, bringing 27 years of experience as a former English teacher. She applies the same strengths developed in education—clear communication, attention to detail, and helping others understand complex information—to her work in insurance. Julie specializes in reviewing personal insurance policies to ensure clients have the right coverage for their home, auto, and related needs. She earned a journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1992 and worked as a radio anchor and reporter, office manager in personal lines insurance, and police dispatcher before completing her English teaching degree and a master’s degree. Outside of work, she enjoys camping, boating, reading, playing cards, baking sourdough, and spending time with her family, and she values her connection to Burlington.
